1.指魏晋时期以何晏、王弼等为代表的唯心主义哲学思潮。以宣传《老子》的“玄之又玄，众妙之门”而得名。主张“以无为本”，认为世界的本原是“无”，万事万物都是“无”派生的。宣扬“无为”，要人们安于现状。东晋以后，与佛学趋于合流。佛学后来渐盛，玄学渐衰。
