1.战国末期到西汉初年的一个学派。标榜对各家学说兼容并包，即所谓“兼儒墨，合名法”，故名。代表著作有吕不韦主持编纂的《吕氏春秋》和汉初淮南王刘安主持编纂的《淮南鸿烈》（《淮南子》）等。
2.泛指学问涉猎很杂的学者。
