留针法，又称停针法，置针术。《灵枢》八十一篇中，其间言及留针之文，有29条。如《本输》篇：“春取中络脉诸荥大经分肉之间，甚者深取之，间者浅取之；夏取诸腧孙络肌肉皮肤之上；秋取诸合，余如春法；冬取诸井诸腧之分，欲深而留之，此四时之序。”所谓留，就是进针以后，将针留置在穴位内，让其停留一定时间后再出针。停留其间，可以不行针，静置久留，也可以适当施以各种手法，主要依据病情而定。
