汉字字体之一。由篆书演变而来。字体由篆书的长方改为方正，笔画由圆转改为方折，奠定了楷书的基础。是象形汉字转变为不象形的重要阶段。始于秦，盛行于汉。最初为徒隶所用，故名。

汉字字体名。也叫佐书、史书。由篆书简化演变而成。把篆书圆转的笔画变成方折，改象形为笔画化，以便书写。始于 秦 代，普遍使用于 汉 魏 。
