八股是什么意思？

明清科举制度的一种考试文体，段落有严格规定，每篇由破题、承题、起讲、入手、起股、中股、后股、束股等部分组成。从起股到束股的四个部分，其中都有两股相互排比的文字，共为八股。内容空泛，形式死板，束缚人的思想。现在多用来比喻空洞死板的文章、讲演等。

明 清 科举考试的一种文体，也称制艺、制义、时艺、时文、八比文。其体源于 宋 元 的经义，而成于 明成化 以后，至 清 光绪 末年始废。文章就四书取题。开始先揭示题旨，为“破题”。接着承上文而加以阐发，叫“承题”。然后开始议论，称“起讲”。再后为“入手”，为起讲后的入手之处。以下再分“起股”、“中股”、“后股”和“束股”四个段落，而每个段落中，都有两股排比对偶的文字，合共八股，故称八股文。其所论内容，都要根据 宋 朱熹 《四书集注》等书“代圣人立説”，不许作者自由发挥。它是封建统治者束缚人民思想，维护封建统治的工具。参阅《明史·选举志二》， 清 阮元 《四书文话》、 梁章鉅 《制义丛话》。
